Seasonal Allergies

It’s that time of year again: the cottonwoods are shedding, the grass, trees, weeds, and flowers are pollinating, leaving seasonal allergy sufferers with uncomfortable symptoms. Itchy, watery eyes, scratchy throat, runny nose, sneezing, and even bouts of fatigue are recurrent annoyances. There are a few ways to manage the symptoms of seasonal allergies. Here’s a few tips to get you through the allergy season.
First, it’s important to remember that there are many causes of seasons allergies, and unless you’ve undergone testing to pinpoint the exact allergen against which your body rebels it’s impossible to know which one or more allergens is culprit. It’s important to frequently wash your bedding and clothing, and try to keep the house as clean as possible. The carpets in your house can hold in allergens, and it’s important that they are vacuumed regularly. It’s especially important if you have pets that require trips outside throughout the day. If you are someone who suffers intense symptoms from seasonal allergies it may even be a good idea to invest in a vacuum with a HEPA-filter attachment; the HEPA filter will better remove the allergens from the carpet, upholstery, and furniture.
It’s also a good idea to wash your hands regularly and to remember not to touch your face (Also good advice to keep away sickness). And when you are washing your hands and face regularly, it’s important to invest in quality facial scrubs and moisturizers for the face, hands, and body.
