Laser Hair

remove unwanted hair for smoother skin

We all agree — the less body hair, the better! (Except maybe on the head.) The excessive or unwanted body hair can be a real nuisance for men and women alike.  Each of our clients have a different reason for wanting laser hair removal, but no matter what the motivation, it is truly life changing.

At Central Wellness, we hold ourselves to the highest standards in everything we do. We perform laser hair removal using best-in-class laser systems that consistently provide safe treatments and high-quality results for people of all skin types.

The Candela laser sends a concentrated beam of light energy to the hair follicle which is transformed into heat. The heat reaches the hair bulb causing destruction of the follicle all without harming the skin. This procedure works on all skin colors and all pigmented hair (less effective on blonde, red, and grey)

Here are some of the most popular reasons for laser hair removal:

  • Fast and easy treatments; most areas are done in less than 15 minutes
  • No downtime after your treatments
  • Get rid of razor burn, bumps, and acne caused by shaving
  • Simplify your daily routine
  • Improve athletic performance
  • Boost your confidence
  • Eliminate the embarrassment of unwanted hair on the face and body
  • Reduce underarm sweating

Laser hair removal lasts for long periods of time and although it is not considered permanent due to changes in hormones, many patients see little to no hair growth for years! It’s a simple, fast, and affordable treatment that frankly everybody should try! It makes life more comfortable, routines more convenient, skin smoother, and people more confident.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many people describe the feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin. But keep in mind that everyone’s pain tolerance is different. Compared to waxing and other forms of hair removal, it’s not so bad. If you do find it uncomfortable the sting only lasts a second as the laser sprays a cool blast of air.

Laser hair removal is up to 80% permanent hair reduction after 3 treatments. It’s also one of the only FDA-cleared procedures that can directly target the source of hair growth beneath your skin. Laser hair removal is a semi-permanent procedure that will not get rid of hair forever, but it will minimize hair growth and produce finer hair that is harder to detect. This means you’ll be able to stop shaving your legs, armpits, bikini line, or wherever else you decide to have the treatment done.

If you’re someone who has struggled with stubble or has unwanted hair either on your underarms, legs, bikini area, back, or butt, laser hair removal can be life changing. We can treat all skin colors and hair types. Laser hair removal is less effective on clients with red, blonde or grey hair, so we recommend that you come in for a consultation so that we can give you an accurate idea of what results you can expect
Not with our lasers! You can return to work, travel or a workout post treatment. The only downtime is sun exposure. Laser hair removal is a true laser. Sun exposure on the treated site can cause hypo and or hyper pigmentation.

The number of treatments will depend on the area being treated. The average number of treatments needed to achieve 80-90% permanent hair removal is about 8-10.  Our membership programs are structured specifically so that you can receive all of the treatments you need to reach your full result, plus any touch-ups necessary to catch those stray hairs.

Hair follicles transition through active and dormant stages and only about 30-50% of your hair is actively growing at any given time. With each treatment, we will cover the entire skin surface, but only those follicles that are “active” will be impacted. When a follicle is dormant, the laser light cannot be absorbed, and the follicle is left undamaged. Central Wellness customizes your treatment plan to ensure the best results possible for you.

Before your laser hair removal appointment, you want to avoid sun exposure to the treated area, if you do go out may sure you wear sunscreen with a high SPF. You should not pluck, wax, or use electrolysis before your laser appointment as you want the follicles to be prominent and able to absorb the light from the laser. The day of your appointment shave the area that is being treated so that laser only targets follicle under the skin.

What to expect

To begin your treatment your medical provider will review your medical history, consent, and answer all your questions. She will then clean the treatment area with alcohol or a similar product and apply ultrasound gel. During your treatment you will feel a cold burst of air on the treatment area to help cool the area and reduce any discomfort, you can expect a sensation similar to a rubber-band snap on your skin.

Post Treatment Reminders
  • Redness & Bumps are normal
Immediately after your treatment, redness & bumps at the treatment area are common; these may last up to 2 hours or longer. It is normal for the treated area to feel like a sunburn for a few hours. You should use a cold compress if the sensitivity continues. If there is any crusting, apply an antibiotic cream. Darker pigmented skin may have more discomfort than lighter skin & may persist longer.
  • Cleanse the area treated gently
The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry & not rubbed during the first 48 hours.
  • No makeup & lotion/moisturizer/deodorant for the first 24 hours
Keep the treated area clean & dry, if further redness or irritation persists, skip your makeup & moisturizer, & deodorant (for underarms) until the irritation has subsided.
  • Dead hairs will begin to shed 5-30 days after your treatment
Stubble, representing dead hair being shed from the hair follicle, will appear within 5-30 days from the treatment date. that is normal & they will fall out quickly.
  • Exfoliate to speed up hair shedding
Anywhere from 5-30 days after the treatment, shedding of the hair may occur & this may appear as new hair growth. It is not new hair growth, but the dead hair pushing its way out of the follicle. You can help the hair come out by washing with a washcloth, exfoliating cloth & shaving.
  • Avoid the sun
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light spots for 2 months. Use sunscreen (spf 25 or higher) at all times throughout the treatment period & for 1-2 months following.
  • Do not pick/scratch/wax/thread/tweeze the area
Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. do not use any other hair removal methods or products, other than shaving, on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments, as it will prevent you from achieving the best results.
  • Hair growth varies
On average, most will experience a level of hairless happiness after 6-9 sessions which will result in not even checking for stubble (yes, it’s life-changing!).
