TREAT FINE LINES AND WRINKLES WITH MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy (CIT) is becoming one of the most popular non-invasive aesthetic treatments in the world. Microneedling boasts improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, acne scarring, large pore size, stretch marks, and even pigmentation issues.

How it Works

Microneedling utilizes tiny needles powered by a pen like device to create small holes in the top layers of the skin. These holes are essentially small injuries which simulate the body’s natural wound healing process. This healing process leads to increased collagen and elastin production as well as rapid cell turnover, resulting in a fresh and youthful appearance. This treatments works in the same way an anti-aging laser treatment would, but with microneedling the skin is “injured” mechanically rather than by heat or light.

MICRONEEDLING FAQs

What does it feel like?

The feeling associated with a microneedling treatment is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others (forehead and around the nose), the speed of the reciprocating SkinPen tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes about 45 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin, maybe pinpoint bleeding. The skin will remain pink for a few days, may peel, but should be healed enough to appear normal within 72 hours.

When will I see results?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?

While some patients only require a single treatment, most require a series of treatments to drive optimal results. We recommend for most patients to receive a series of three treatments spaced four weeks apart, two times per year. For patients with deep wrinkles, darkened sun spots, stretch marks or acne scars, your skin care provider may recommend more treatments.
