How To Start Exercising When You Are Overweight

Losing weight can be very tough, but studies show that exercise can help in this process. One major challenge that can arise when trying to exercise is avoiding injury when getting started. When our bodies are overweight, high impact exercise is going to be more of a struggle and heightens the risk of injury. The Central Wellness Weight Management Program has found some great tips to help you get started with your exercise routine.
1. Low-Impact Cardio – Start slowly. A walking regiment is a great way to get started with less risk of injury. Other great low-impact cardio routines include; cycling, swimming, and water aerobics.
2. Add exercise to your daily routine – Park farther from the door at the grocery store, march your feet while you are sitting and watching television, and take the stairs instead of the elevator.
3. Get your office involved – Try to organize a 10 minute walk every morning at your job. It is a great way to hold each other accountable to being healthy is a great way to get away from the stress of the desk!
